Tournament Formats
Choose the format that best suits your competition style. Each format has its own advantages depending on the number of teams and time available.
Single Elimination
Most PopularTeams are eliminated after a single loss. The tournament progresses through rounds until one team remains undefeated.
Best for: Cup-style competitions with limited time. If your team count isn't one of the ideal numbers, some teams will get a free pass (bye) in the first round.
Double Elimination
Teams must lose twice to be eliminated. Features a winners bracket and losers bracket, giving teams a second chance.
Best for: Competitive events and esports. Capped at 32 teams — beyond that, the winner's and loser's brackets become very difficult to manage and schedule.
Round Robin
Every team plays against every other team once. Final standings are determined by points (3 for win, 1 for draw, 0 for loss).
Best for: Leagues and small groups where fairness matters most. Note: with 16 teams you'll have 120 total matches — make sure you have enough time. An odd number of teams means one team sits out each round.
Group + Knockout
World Cup StyleTeams are divided into groups for round-robin play. Top teams from each group advance to a knockout stage.
Best for: Major competitions and multi-day events. Groups of 4 teams work best, with the top 2 from each group advancing to the knockout stage.
Swiss System
AdvancedTeams are paired based on similar performance. Winners play winners, losers play losers, creating balanced matches each round.
Best for: Large events where no one gets eliminated early. The more teams you have, the more rounds are played — roughly one round per doubling of teams (e.g. 8 teams → 3 rounds, 32 teams → 5 rounds).
